Tulum is one of my favorite places in the world because it is full of life and scenic beauty. You can spend thrilling and exciting days in the Tulum but before starting your day you definitely need a booster in the form of breakfast or just a cup of coffee in the best Tulum cafes..

There are various best cafes in Tulum that serve this purpose and here I have compiled a list of best Tulum cafes for breakfast and coffee in Tulum. So, check out this list before packing your bags for Tulum Mexico.

My Tulum Favorites 

• Muyil River Float: This river is situated in the South of Tulum where you can explore the mesmerizing turquoise lagoon and float in the slow and steady river. So, take your time out for this place during your stay at Tulum.
• Beach Days: Must spend a day at the Tulum beach and relax at the public spot where you will get a chance to meet local and foreign tourists. If you do not want this you can book a day pass for the club or stay at the waterfront hotel. You can also experience riding a bike from downtown to the beach but it could be hot.
• Mayan Ruins: Cliffside Tulum ruins is also worth visiting and also go to see the Chichen Itza (one of the seven Wonders of the World). It is a pre-Columbian city and is highly famous for its historical pyramid. People who visit Tulum, usually spend a day at this place and Valladolid.
• Cenote Hopping: It is fun hopping at the three different cenotes located in the Tulum. This is a less explored site so you will definitely enjoy.

Raw Love Tulum

It has three different branches that are unique and serene. It serves delicious and healthy brunch like coconut curry, Thai food, and tropical smoothie bowl. Variety of options available for coffee lovers such as mushroom coffee, golden milk, matcha, and mate latte. It also offers yummy drinks like juices and fresh coconut water.

Two of the branches of Raw Love Tulum such as beach road and Tulum Centro and present in attractive jungle gardens. These are famous places yet not feel crowded may be due to their spacious view. Beach bar is famous for its smoothies, juices and other breakfast items. So, if you visit the beach, I would recommend you to grab a glass of juice for refreshing taste.

Botanica Garden Cafe

It is a lovely open-air place that offers a classy coffee and brunch. It is like a tropical garden with a smell of fresh flowers and live music. Due to these reasons you will usually find it crowded.

Its menu includes fresh juices, toasts, coffee, and huevos rancheros (Mexican food). There are good options for vegans like fresh juices and avocado toast served with cheese and fried potatoes.

It is cost effective café but serving is somewhat less then other restaurants so if you are a foody person then order two items to get full.

Ki’Bok Coffee

It is one the best Tulum cafes for brunch and coffee in open air. It is an inviting place and you will like to go again and again there due to its open and serene environment. It is relatively quiet and calm place and you can do your work or read a book peacefully.

It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and popular foods include chai latte, focaccia sandwiches, and enchiladas de mole.

Otti Cacao and Smoothies

It is present in the La Veleta neighborhood and you may consider it a hidden gem because most of the people are unaware of this place. I came to know about Otti Cacao and Smoothies café through a famous blog and now I am also recommending you to visit this place.

Its popular food item is traditional cacao but it also serves breakfast and coffee. I have found it good place especially the staff is very friendly and open hearted.

Timings and location: 8:30am-4pm Monday to Friday, 9am-2pm Sunday; La Valeta.

Brew Tulum Specialty Coffee

If you are searching for the best coffee in Tulum, so this is the place, finish your search and go there immediately. Although, famous for the coffee, it has a lot of breakfast options as well and you will not get disappointed by visiting this place.

They not only sell coffee but also offer different classes for coffee roasting, coffee tasting and Mexican spiced coffee making. So, people usually take one of these classes to just have fun.

DelCielo

Give yourself a delicious treat at the DelCielo café. It is beautifully decorated and there is a space for customers both inside and outside that is why I rate it as one of the best Tulum cafes..

Main menu includes chilaquiles and coco lime brioche French toast, coffees, smoothies, kombucha, fresh juice and coconut water.

Their staff is friendly and you can easily substitute an item in your food it you do not like it. They have good variety of vegetarian and gluten free food as well.

Café Don Tomás

It is a combination of Mexican cuisine and a coffee shop that is very bright and friendly located in the neighborhood of Tulum downtown. It is somewhat off the road but you can easily find this place and enjoy the breakfast.

It has a huge variety of breakfast options so, you can easily find the items like croissants and breakfast classics that are unavailable in the other restaurants.

Timings and location: 7am-3pm, Monday to Saturday; Tulum Centro.

Matcha Mama

This restaurant is very famous on Instagram and is a vibrant brunch spot. It is suitable to you if you like to eat something light and healthy. It also has two branches; downtown and beach road and both are among the best Tulum cafes.

Their most demanded drinks are; cold brew coffee, tea letters, coconut water, acai bowls, and fresh pressed juice. They have a beautiful swing chair and various sign items that are used by the travelers for photoshoot.

The downtown branch works in collaboration with Papi and they both share the building so you can grab your pizza and enjoy healthy drinks at the same time.

La Hoja Verde

It is a captivating and beautiful vegetarian café that will fulfil your appetite before leaving for the great adventures in the Tulum and its neighborhood. Their menu is very healthy and atmosphere is nature friendly as you will find various plants hanging around.

Their popular vegan breakfast item is vegan empanadas, other options include but not limited to the quesadillas, vegetable burgers, fresh juices and salads.

Real Coconut Kitchen

It is unique because it is an organic café and its location alongside the beach makes it a perfect place to sit and enjoy the delicious, fresh, and attractively plated food.

Good thing is that it has a variety of gluten free options and they put clear labels on every food about the food content and allergens. The café is some how expensive yet affordable and money spent is worthwhile.

You will really enjoy their breakfast menu such as coconut cream cheese cucumber toast, gluten-free crepes, and chia seed parfait.

Cara Feliz

If you are searching for calm and cozy place to enjoy a good read with the cup of copy then Cara Feliz best suits you. Its calm and serene environment is very inspiring for the quiet people. You can go with your own book or grab one from there because they a good collection of Spanish and English books.

They have an air conditioning facility in summers so, you can enjoy the cool breeze during break or brunch in one of the best Tulum cafes.

They have simple breakfast options like vegan brownies and sandwich plus chipotle aioli. Their service is quite slow however, the staff is welcoming. So, I would recommend you this place only if you are a peace love and wait for the food for some time.

Timings and location: 9am-8pm Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm Saturday; Tulum Centro.

Where to Stay in Tulum

• Hotel Bardo: If you are going without kids then it is the best place for you because it is an adult only area. It has a mesmerizing view with the splendid turquoise pool.
• Habitas Tulum: It is luxury resort at the beachfront. It will provide you with the private villa, jungle patio and a pool. You will enjoy a beautiful spa, restaurant and an amazing beach view. However, the place is a bit expensive and check prices beforehand and book your place.
• Hotel Shibari: This place is also very close to the beach and their suites are luxurious and airy. Moreover, you will enjoy various complementary facilities like pool, spa, and fitness center. Their food is fresh and tasty so, maintain your budget to enjoy this place.
• Rubi Tulum: This place is somewhat similar to the Habitas Tulum because it also provides private pool, soaking tub etc. However, it offers boho tree houses that are connected to the jungle via hanging bridge so, it would be definitely a life time experience for you, so never miss the chance.

Getting Around Tulum

It is a little difficult to get around in Tulum because the main tourist’s attraction is the beach that is away from the main city so you may have to face the heavy traffic to reach there. I will let you know about the some of the best way to get around in Tulum.

Renting a scooter or a bike: Scooter is the best option in Tulum because roads are busy and scooter can pass easily and efficiently from the small spaces and parking is also easier.

Renting a car: Car is also good option so you can rent it from local companies, check and compare the prices here.

Colectivo: Shared shuttles are also available in Tulum and go to various parts of the town and nearby areas such as Quintana, Playa del Carmen, and Akumal. You can also visit cenotes, Sian Kaan, and Coba ruins via these shuttles. These are less expensive and safer options.

Guided tours: if you do not want the hassle of booking cars and scooters and want to enjoy peacefully you may book the guided tour and relax. They will take you to the best places and save your time and energy.

Taxi (not recommended): Taxis are available in Tulum but they charge very high so, it is not advisable to hire them at first instance. However, if you are unable to find any suitable option then you get a taxi.
